The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced that it will recruit for
jobs in Liberia at least 8,000 new officers to boost their numerical
strength from the present 4,700 in 2018 to maintain law and order in the
country.

Eligibility Criteria for Liberia National Police Recruitment 2018

Before are the application requirements, please have the following
information handy: With § 22.88 (b) (i) (3) of the Act, a person is
eligible to join the Liberia National Police if that person:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of Liberia and have under gone a police
    training course at the Liberia National Police Training Academy and
    Training School.
  • Applicant must be between the ages of 18 – 25 years.
  • Candidate must signed the necessary confidentiality documentation
    related to Liberia National Police Recruitment 2018.
  • Candidate should be physically and mentally fit.
    Applicant must be a high school graduate or should have certificates
    equivalent to it.
  • The candidate should have a good employment record.
  • Applicant must make sure he/she has not been discharged officially
    by personnel in Liberia National Police.
  • Applicant should not not be facing any criminal charges or have any
    criminal record.
  • Application must not be in any political organization

How To Apply For Liberia National Police Recruitment 2018

Interested Applicants are to visit the recruitment portal
to enter their application once the application form is out.

  • An application for enlistment into the Liberia National Police shall
    be made in the appropriate form as prescribed by Administrative
    Instructions.
  • An applicant for enlistment into the Liberia National Police shall
    complete the application form under Regulation 7.4 (a) and shall
    provide any other information and supporting documents that the form
    or the Division of Human Resources may require.
  • An application form under Regulation 7.4 (a) shall be free of charge
    and shall be made available at the Liberia National Police
    Headquarters and all Regional, County and District Police Headquarters.
  • An applicant may obtain an application form from a station or
    detachment commander or such other designated recruitment officer as
    may be provided for in Administrative Instructions.
  • The application form shall contain instructions as detailed as may
    be necessary in order to be intelligible to an ordinary applicant; a
    station or detachment commander or designated recruitment officer
    may guide an applicant in completing the application form.
  • The applicant shall return the completed application form with any
    supporting document to the Liberia National Police Headquarters, a
    Regional, County or District Police Headquarters or to a station or
    detachment commander or designated recruitment officer and sign a
    return receipt book to that effect.
  • The officer receiving the application must ensure that the
    application is complete before it is received.
  • Upon the expiration of the time limited for application under
    Regulation 7.3 (e) (i), the officer receiving the application shall:
    1. Immediately certify that the application has been reviewed;
    2. Immediately register each application;
  • Immediately acknowledge receipt of the application in writing; and

1. Forward the application and its supporting information and documents
to the division of human resources within seven working days.

  • Where an applicant insists that an officer receives and processes an
    incomplete or irregularly filled application form, the officer shall
    comply and make a notation of the circumstances in respect of that
    application.
  • Where the Division of Human Resources is of the view that an
    application under Regulation 7.4 (i) may nevertheless be processed,
    that application may be processed.
  • Where the Division of Human Resources is of the view that the
    application may not be processed, the application shall be rejected
    and the applicant shall be informed accordingly.

 

Liberia National Police Recruitment 2018 tests

  • The Division of Human Resources shall process all applications
    received by it in accordance with these Regulations.
  • Each applicant who has submitted a complete application form shall
    be subject to:
    1. Proficiency test;
    2. Physical fitness test;
  • Psychometric test;

1. Selection interview;
2. Medical examination;
3. Background checks; and

  • Screening for criminal records.
  • Subject to the Act and these Regulations, the standards to be met in
    relation to each eligibility criterion specified under Regulation
    7.5. (b) shall be provided for in Administrative Instructions.
  • An applicant who fails to meet the standards set under Regulation
    7.5. (b) shall not qualify to be enlisted into the Liberia National
    Police and the Division of Human Resources shall accordingly inform
    the applicant of the outcome.
  • The proficiency and physical fitness tests and selection interview
    under Regulation 7.5. (b) Shall take place at the Liberia National
    Police Headquarters, the Liberia National Police Regional
    Headquarters, or such other place as the Division of Human Resources
    may specify.
  • Without limiting the generality of Regulation 7.5. (c), the physical
    fitness test shall include:
    1. Upper body strength and endurance test;
    2. Abdominal strength and endurance test; and
  • A cardiovascular strength and endurance test.
  • * Without limiting the generality of Regulation 7.5. (c), the
    psychometric test shall include:
    1. A test of the state of mind of the applicant;
    2. A test of the cohesion between the mind and the physical body of
    the applicant;
  • A psychosomatic examination of the applicant, including assessing
    the applicant’s aptitude, whether the applicant has any illness that
    may be aggravated by mental or other stress and whether the
    applicant exhibits a propensity toward violent or irrational behaviour.
  • Without limiting the generality of Regulation 7.5. (c), the
    Management Board shall constitute a five-member panel, at least two
    of whom shall be women, to conduct selection interviews.
  • Without limiting the generality of Regulation 7.5. (c):
    1. A medical examination shall be carried out by a medical doctor
    of the Liberia National Police, or a medical officer approved by
    the Management Board, and
    2. The candidature of a candidate who is pregnant, and who has been
    medically advised not to participate in any aspects of the basic
    police training course at the National Police Training Academy
    and Training School, shall remain valid for up to three years
    for future recruitment into the Liberia National Police.
  • Without limiting the generality of Regulation 7.5(c):
    1. The Division of Human Resources shall conduct due diligence and
    background checks as may be necessary to determine whether an
    applicant is qualified to be enlisted into the Liberia National
    Police;
    2. A person who fails the due diligence and background checks under
    Regulation 7.5. (j) (i) Shall be declared unfit to be enlisted
    into the Liberia National Police; and
  • A person sworn in as a police officer shall, by due process, be
    expelled from the Liberia National Police if after having been sworn
    in as a police officer, anything which would have otherwise
    disqualified that person under Regulation 7.5. (j) (ii), from
    enlistment is brought to the attention of the Division of Human
    Resources.
  • Without limiting the generality of Regulation 7.5. (c), the Crime
    Services Department of the Liberia National Police shall profile
    each applicant and conduct such criminal screening as may be
    necessary to ascertain whether the applicant has any known criminal
    history including war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

    Recruitment List

  • The Division of Human Resources shall maintain a list of all
    successful applicants.
  • An applicant who successfully passes the recruitment tests under
    Regulation 7.5 shall be included in the recruitment list.
  • The Division of Human Resources shall submit a report of the
    recruitment process together with the recruitment list to the
    Management Board for review and approval.
  • The Management Board shall submit the report and the recruitment
    list to the Inspector General of Police who shall endorse the
    report.
  • Upon approval of the recruitment list, the Division of Human
    Resources shall:
    1. Publish the recruitment list in all official Liberia
    National Police bulletin boards in every police station;
    2. Inform the successful applicant of the outcome of his or her
    application and invite the applicant for the commencement of
    the basic police training course at the National Police
    Training Academy and Training School; and
  • Forward the recruitment list to the National Police Training Academy
    and Training School.
